With the first major review of Data Protection in the UK for 20 years, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) brings significant change and therefore risk for all organisations that process the data of supporters, members and customers, including alumni. GDPR is set to empower the public to take back control of their data like never before, with wide ranging implications. However, this significant change in how all organisations manage their data can bring opportunities to charities and not-for-profits. This session will provide assurance about the main areas of change in GDPR, and will highlight how best practice in fundraising can help schools stand out and attract support.\nFundraising\nDan will also be presenting on Fundraising. Changes to the public perception of charities over the last few years mean that being successful in asking for donations is becoming harder. It is no longer enough to assume that the public will give to charitable causes because they are doing good. The onus is increasingly on not-for-profit organisations to demonstrate the social value of their impact on the wider world. Demonstrating impact is also becoming a more important element of the charity SORP.
