SUMMARY:Leadership Briefing with our Headline Sponsors, Kingston Smith and Stone King
DESCRIPTION:BACS Payment Reference: G506\nSummary of Sessions\nGeneral Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)\nDan Fletcher, Assistant Director, Kingston Smith Fundraising and Management will be presenting on GDPR and Fundraising. With the first major review of Data Protection in the UK for 20 years, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) brings significant change and therefore risk for all organisations that process the data of supporters, members and customers, including alumni. GDPR is set to empower the public to take back control of their data like never before, with wide ranging implications. However, this significant change in how all organisations manage their data can bring opportunities to charities and not-for-profits. This session will provide assurance about the main areas of change in GDPR, and will highlight how best practice in fundraising can help schools stand out and attract support.\nFundraising\nDan will also be presenting on Fundraising. Changes to the public perception of charities over the last few years mean that being successful in asking for donations is becoming harder. It is no longer enough to assume that the public will give to charitable causes because they are doing good. The onus is increasingly on not-for-profit organisations to demonstrate the social value of their impact on the wider world. Demonstrating impact is also becoming a more important element of the charity SORP. This session will apply principles of Social Return on Investment to effective fundraising practice, and illustrate the strategic management decisions required to do successfully.\nLegal Updates\nIn the legal updates session, Stephen Ravenscroft, Helen Tucker and Harriet Broughton from Stone King will cover topics such as changes in practice in recovering unpaid fees further to the Debt Recovery Pre-Action Protocol, lessons learned from cases of parent contract termination, and an employment law update including risk management from Employment Tribunal changes, recent case law relating to the suspension of staff, and religious discrimination in the workplace.\nSafeguarding\nIn the practical safeguarding session, Helen Tucker and Harriet Broughton will lead a session looking at examples from real cases to explore first steps to take when faced with an allegation of either current or historic abuse, balancing the duties to the employee whilst appropriately handling the allegation, responding to the media and communications planning, ‘when and what’ for informing key stakeholders and relevant regulatory authorities, distinctions between charity law safeguarding duties and the regulatory requirements, and associated data disclosure issues.\nProgramme for the day\n12 noon – Lunch on arrival\n13.00 – Welcome and introductions\n13.05-13.45 – Legal updates from Stone King\n13.45-13.50 – Break\n13.50-14.30 – Fundraising from Kingston Smith\n14.30-15.00 – Tea break\n15.00-16.00 – General Data Protection Regulations from Kingston Smith\n16.00-16.05 – Break\n16.05-16.50 – Safeguarding from Stone King\n16.50-17.20 – Panel session\n17.20 – Closing remarks\n17.30 – Drinks and depart\nTo book a place please click on the link.\nAny booking enquiries please contact paula.hawkins@catholicindependentschools.com\nThere will be a charge of £35.00 plus VAT.\nBACS Payment Reference: G506\n
