DESCRIPTION:BACS Payment Reference: G500\nWe are pleased to announce that the CISC Day Conference for Chaplains with our will be held on Thursday 28 March 2019 at St Teresa’s, Effingham, RH5 6ST.\nThe day conference is aimed primarily at Chaplains and those in charge of Catholic life in Catholic independent schools and is an opportunity for those seeking to update themselves on best practice whilst also accessing a supportive network.\nBooking deadline is 4pm on Friday 22 March 2019.\nThe final programme is detailed below:\nProgramme for the day\n9.30am – Refreshments on arrival, registration\n10.00am – Dr Maureen Glackin: Welcome, prayer and introductions\n10.15am – Teresa Baron: Impact of Pornography on Young People\n‘Children, Sex Education, and Pornography’ – a  discussion on  the accessibility and content of internet pornography and the context in which children are likely to be exposed to it and its effects on their behaviour. There will also be a consideration of  the ways in which teachers, chaplains, and parents of children in Catholic schools can help to mitigate this problem and protect future generations.\nTeresa studied Philosophy and Sociology at Cambridge before completing her masters degree in Women’s Studies at Oxford.  She is now in the second year of her doctorate in reproductive ethics at the University of Southampton. Teresa has been campaigning against pornography for five years, writing articles and giving talks at churches, schools, and university societies.\n11.15am – Refreshments\n11.45am – Prof. Peter Tyler: A Christian Response to Mindfullness\nProf Peter Tyler is Professor of Pastoral Theology and Spirituality.\nHe is a UKCP registered psychotherapist and contributes to the current dialogue between spirituality and psychotherapy. Peter is the Director of St Mary’s research centre InSpiRe – The Centre for Initiatives in Spirituality and Reconciliation and he has particular interests in: spirituality, mystical theology and the contemplative tradition.\nHis recent book Christian Mindfulness: Theology and Practice (SCM Press) forms the focus for his input on the Chaplains’ day.\nYou can follow Prof Peter Tyler’s work by reading his blog, insoulpursuit.\n12.45pm – 1.30pm – Lunch\n1.30pm – Group Session:My best resource – sharing practice\n2.30pm – Refreshments\n2.45pm – Mass\n3.30pm – Carriages!\nTo book a place please click on the link below.\nThe cost for the day, including lunch and refreshments is £85.
