Recruitment of Governors

Website St Catherine's School
The Chair and Governors of St Catherine’s Twickenham are looking for dynamic and committed individuals to join the Board of Governors.
The School enjoys an enviable position next to the river Thames and is conveniently located close to the centre of Twickenham. The site of St Catherine’s has been famous since 1719 when the poet, Alexander Pope, developed extensive gardens behind his riverside villa, where the School is now situated. In 1992 the School became fully independent and now operates as a charitable trust.
We have over 100 years’ experience in independent education and welcome girls of all faiths and backgrounds to our happy, vibrant community, where they will grow in self-confidence and experience success.
Governors are responsible for overseeing the management side of a school: strategy, policy, budgeting and staffing. They enable the school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education to St Catherine’s girls. Governors are expected to uphold the school’s ethos and its commitment to its mission statement.
Governors bring a wide range of skills and expertise from their professional and personal lives to the governing board and schools benefit greatly from working with skilled volunteers.
Applications are particularly welcomed from those with professional expertise in finance (including investment, venture capital or private equity), law, and health and safety. Successful candidates will be collaborative, strategic, and committed to supporting the School’s mission and ethos.
Over the course of each academic year, governors attend three full-board meetings, three committee meetings, and an annual strategy day. There is also opportunity to participate in school visits and events. These positions are voluntary, though reasonable expenses will be covered.
