Surge in A* Grades in CISC Schools Bucks National Trend
There were outstanding GCSE results across CISC with a common theme being increases in A* grades bucking the national trend.
At St George’s College, Weybridge the 164 Year 11 students are celebrating an impressive set of GCSE with over 40% of entries graded A* and 2/3 A*/A . and 90% A* – B. A total of 38 pupils achieved straight A*-A Grades, including 12 with at least 10A*s.
St Mary’s Cambridge were delighted with further improvement in their GCSE grades: over a third of all examinations taken were awarded an A*, and over two thirds at A* – A; increases of 8% and 6% respectively on last year. The number of A* – B grades also rose, to 90%, from 84% last year.
Prior Park College is thrilled to be celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE success with students achieved a remarkable 26% of the entries achieving A* and around 70% of grades A*/A. Six students achieved at least ten A* grades.
The Marist School has a great deal to be proud of when it comes to academic success. 61% of the exams taken were passed at A* to A with a third of girls achieving all A*s and As. This is a record year for GCSE attainment and it builds on some exciting new developments for the school.
This year almost 15% of Mayfield girls achieved an awe-inspiring A*/A in 12 or more subjects! Over a quarter of the year achieved more than 10 A*/A grades and almost three quarters of the year each achieved at least 5 A*/A grades. Just as importantly these are girls who are also involved in a range of sporting, drama, music and community service activities.
Notre Dame, Cobham girls celebrated achieving record results for their GSCEs – 81% of all grades A*-B*one third of girls achieved seven or more A*-A grades. 97% grades A*-C. Notre Dame’s Art Department was delighted to be celebrating a fifth successive year of 100% A* grades for Art.
There were broad smiles for Princethorpe’s cohort of 160 GCSE candidates – with 40% of grades are at A* or A, over two thirds at A*- B and 20% of pupils achieved at least 9 A* or A grades,
The Oratory School celebrated an excellent set of GCSE results with some strong top end performances – A* Grades 21%, A* & A Grades 41%,(the best since 2010). A*-B Grades 65%. The overall percentage pass rate for pupils with 5+ A*-C grades including English and Maths was 90%.
Students from New Hall School are celebrating record GCSE success today, with over 21% of grades at A*, 48% of grades at A*-A and 78% of grades at A*-B.
Ratcliffe College saw a significant increase in A* grades, with 48% of all grades A*/A. The College takes pride in supporting all students, teaching a wide spectrum of abilities; with 87% of all grades being C or better, there is clearly significant value added to all our students regardless of their ability.
As the school nears its centenary year, Thornton College students are celebrating another exceptional set of examination results. With 51% A*/A grades and A*-B percentage at 83%, the girls have performed remarkably well given the range of academic abilities; there is not an entrance examination. Headmistress Jo Storey is delighted that that so many of these girls will be joining the new Sixth Form at Thornton College.
