Save the Date! The Catholic School and Gospel Values 18 May at St. George’s Weybridge
To mark the fortieth anniversary of the publication of The Catholic School by the Sacred Congregation of Catholic Education, we are delighted to announce a day conference kindly hosted by St. George’s Weybridge on Thursday 18 May. The conference is for all heads, governors and senior staff in our schools. This will be an opportunity to reflect on the ‘foundation charter’ for Catholic schools and our response to the current challenges we face. We will be joined by Dr. Clare Watkins, Lecturer in Ministerial Theology at The University of Roehampton. Clare will be reflecting on some ground-breaking research into Catholic leadership.
To mark this anniversary, the Centre for Research and Development in Catholic Education, led by Professor Gerald Grace, has commissioned the Catholic Truth Society to re-print copies of the document and send one to each Catholic school in the country. I have liaised with Professor Grace to ensure that all CISC member schools receive a copy. I would urge all heads and senior leaders to read this document in order to renew what Professor Grace calls our mission integrity. On the afternoon of the conference on 18 May we will convene a panel to discuss the document and the wider issues facing Catholic education today. A full programme will be available in due course.
