Cranmore is one of Surrey’s leading schools, with a long history of achievement, breadth and excellence, all provided within our fabulous 25-acre site in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of Surrey.
At Cranmore we care passionately about rounded education. We want children to have a positive school experience in which they develop a love of learning, curiosity, confidence and life-long friendships.
Education at Cranmore is planned meticulously in order to provide an excellent foundation and foster a positive attitude towards learning. We cultivate at least one special talent where a child can excel on their own terms, and our wide range of opportunities means our pupils shine academically, in sport, music and the arts, or in one of our many extra curricular activities.
Having benefitted from significant investment in recent years, our school is impressively appointed to satisfy the academic ambitions and interests of all pupils: our two libraries are overflowing with a stock of stimulating books; our brand new state of the art Science and Technology Centre houses laboratories that are equipped to inspire the next generation of scientists; while a cutting-edge Computer Science suite, comprising robotics, virtual reality headsets and 3D printing, places evolving technologies at the forefront of education at Cranmore. Modern and Classical languages are taught, including French, Spanish, Mandarin, Latin and Greek, broadening pupils’ horizons, and helping to contextualise other areas of study such as Geography and History.
Cranmore is enviably rich in sporting facilities, including three all-weather pitches for hockey, netball, tennis, etc; three cricket pitches and rugby pitches; a 9-hole, par 3 golf course; an indoor swimming pool; a gym and fitness suite; a sports hall; and three glass-fronted squash courts.
Our purpose-built Music School houses fantastic facilities, including a Steinway concert grand piano and Mander pipe organ, enabling a busy extra-curricular music schedule and ensuring exposure to many different genres. Our aim is to foster a love of music which will stay with pupils for life.
Our aim is to broaden our pupils’ outlook on drama and theatre. Pupils are encouraged to join extra-curricular clubs, take part in school productions and attend trips to regional and national theatres. There is also an opportunity to take LAMDA examinations, in which we have an outstanding track record.
In 2019 neighbouring schools St Teresa’s and Cranmore formed the Effingham Schools Trust partnership to create a diamond model school, a powerful and exciting educational proposition, delivering all the advantages of both single sex and co-education to girls and boys. Offering benefits of the co-ed classroom to very young pupils, the benefits of the single sex classroom in later prep and secondary years, before finally returning to a brand new co-education Sixth Form Centre at St Teresa’s in September 2025.
