Year 11 Parents Celebrate OLA Remote Learning with Happy Cakes!
Teaching staff at OLA (Our Lady’s Abingdon) had some special visitors on Tuesday. Julia from Happy Cakes and Fiona MacKay Perkins presented 48 rather amazing looking cakes to the staff in School on behalf of Year 11 parents.
The cake idea was the brainchild of Year 11 parent Mrs Bush who wanted to find a way that parents could group together to publicly thank OLA staff for all they had done in delivering such a great term of remote learning.
“We were all so aware that the term had presented a major teaching challenge for the staff. The furloughing of some teachers had meant others had to work much longer timetables as well as deliver teaching in a totally new way that kept education happening but managed to also keep children fully engaged when they were not actually face to face in the classroom. Dr Reynaert’s organisation of the process has been exemplary. The weekly surveys of parents to gather information on what was working or needed improvement from our end was first class. Every teacher has done a fantastic job. We wanted to do our small bit to say thank you to the ones on site on Tuesday but our thanks go out to them all. They all very much deserve the holiday about to start!” Mrs Bush
Mrs MacKay Perkins mobilised Year 11 parents to donate money to buy the cakes from Happy Cakes who provide a cake service to celebrate achievements.
