CISC Statement of Support and Solidarity with the Leweston School Community
The news concerning Leweston School is deeply distressing, and our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this situation.
On behalf of the Catholic Independent Schools Council (CISC), I wish to express our heartfelt solidarity with the entire Leweston community: its pupils, parents, staff, governors, alumni and all those who have contributed to the life and mission of the school.
At a time of such uncertainty and upheaval, we recognise the profound impact that these circumstances will have on individuals and families. For pupils, a school is far more than a place of learning; it is a community where friendships are formed, confidence grows and young people discover their gifts and potential. For staff, it is a place of professional commitment, vocation and relationships built over many years. For parents, it represents trust, hope and the educational future they have chosen for their children.
We are particularly mindful of the anxiety and practical challenges facing staff and their families, and the uncertainty that parents and pupils may be experiencing. They deserve compassion, clear communication and support as they seek to understand what happens next.
CISC stands ready to offer appropriate support to members of the Leweston community. We warmly invite staff who may be seeking alternative employment to share their CVs with us at info@
For parents who may be exploring alternative school placements for their children, our online directory provides information about Catholic independent schools across the country. We hope this resource will be a helpful starting point as families consider the options available to them.

Our Catholic educational tradition reminds us that every person possesses an inherent dignity and that our responsibility to one another does not end when circumstances become difficult. At moments such as this, solidarity must be more than a sentiment: it must be expressed through practical compassion, generosity and a willingness to help.
We hold the pupils, parents, staff and wider Leweston community in our thoughts and prayers. We pray especially for those facing uncertainty about their education, their livelihoods and their future, and we ask that they find strength, reassurance and support in the days ahead.
The Leweston community is not alone. We encourage colleagues across Catholic education to respond with kindness, understanding and practical assistance wherever they can.
