Milie’s American Adventure
Our Lady’s Convent School in Loughborough was delighted to welcome back past pupil Millie Elliott as she led an assembly about her gap year in an independent school in America.
Millie, who is now in her first year at St Andrew’s University, won an English Speaking Union Scholarship worth £35,000 to attend Western Reserve Academy in North East Ohio, rated 14 in the top 100 American private schools. Students listening to her speak were transfixed by her tales of daily academic life, attending proms and how all students are equally regarded as athletes and expected to participate in at least two hours of sporting activities daily.
Encouraging current students to grasp all opportunities offered by the School, Millie explained that her ability to demonstrate breadth and depth of skills and experiences helped her qualify for the scholarship. She emphasised the need to get involved with as much as possible and accept the help and support offered by the School.
Millie is now offering support and advice to other students at The Convent looking to broaden their horizons and study overseas for a year.
